The San Benito Stage Company has had a busy season so far in 2012,
with their dinner theater show, "Lend Me Tenor," wrapping in February;
the spring children's musical, "Narnia" in April; and now they are
gearing up for their annual summer production.
Auditions are being
held Friday and Saturday. They are open to anyone who wants to take the
stage, age 8 to adult, with tryouts for a role in "Big River: The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." The play is based on a Rodger &
Hammerstein musical about Mark Twain's well-known literary character.
The
Broadway production of the show won seven Tony Awards when it had its
run in the 1980s, including wins for best musical and best score. The
local San Benito County version of the show will be directed by Sarah
Smith and produced by Anne Hall.
